Rapid Crushing & Screening Contractors PTY LTD (Rapid) is a privately owned Australian company, established in 1978, to service the mining, construction and quarrying industries with crushing and screening services.

Over the years we have grown to become the biggest independent crushing contractor, and to possibly have the widest range of capabilities of any crushing contractor service in Australia.

Rapid has been awarded major crushing and screening contracts with major mining companies and civil and earthmoving contractors throughout Australia.

We take pride in being a unique specialist in supplying a large range of crushing and screening service on a contract basis throughout Australia.

Our uniqueness comes about through the fact that we build and design our plant and equipment to the specifications of the client and it is adapted to the layout of the client’s site. It means that our plant and the configuration of equipment can be quite different to that of other contractors because it is designed with one thing in mind: maximising output efficiency!

Rapid Crushing & Screening Contractors PTY LTD (Rapid) is a provider of quality crushing and screening services to the civil contracting, construction, mining, and resource industries, under contract or hire.

We’re a privately owned Australian Company having begun operations in 1978. Rapid specialises in the crushing and screening of all types of mineral ores. This includes lump and fines hematite iron ore, gold, manganese, nickel, lithium, special class site preparation fill materials on major construction projects, as well as concrete and road aggregates, road base, rail ballast and armour rock. A feature of Rapid’s unique work is that we have the capacity to configure our plants specifically to the layout of an operational site.

We have an extremely wide range of high-production mobile and fixed crushing, screening and conveying plants. These range from mobile and modular plants handling up to 600 tonnes per hour, through to fixed plants operating at over 1,000 tonnes per hour.

MT CATTLIN LITHIUM

  • Rapid mobilised to Mt Cattlin in July 2017 to assist our new client with crushing and screening of primary ore. We have built a solid relationship at the site and have continually improved our circuit and service offering to the client. Rapid has had multiple contract extensions and with various changes in the site ownership has continued our great relationship to the success of the operations.

    We are proud to have crushed over 10 million tonnes during our time at the site. Rapid crushed and handled contaminated ore with the client’s ore sorters improving product yields, which was a pioneering process for the site team.

  • Mobilisation and Initial Assistance at Mt Cattlin.

    Rapid mobilised to Mt Cattlin in July 2017 to provide crucial crushing and screening services for primary ore.

    Established a strong rapport with the client, fostering a relationship built on trust and reliability.

    Continuously enhanced our circuit and service offerings to meet evolving client needs, demonstrating our commitment to exceeding expectations.

RAVENSWOOD GOLD

  • Rapid has built a relationship with the team at Ravenswood Gold that has provided many flexible solutions to keep their operations moving. From hire of mobile machinery and support equipment to full three stage crushing and screening circuits, Rapid has come through with the goods.

    Ravenswood Gold was the first client in Australia to hire Rapid's flagship Jonsson L160 mobile jaw crusher. This machine worked double shift for twelve months exceeding all expectations.

  • Delivering Exceptional Performance with Flagship Equipment.

    Ravenswood Gold made history as the first client in Australia to hire Rapid's flagship Jonsson L160 mobile jaw crusher.

    This machine exceeded all expectations, working tirelessly on double shifts for twelve months without faltering.

    The outstanding performance of the Jonsson L160 demonstrates Rapid's commitment to providing cutting-edge equipment that consistently delivers exceptional results for our clients.

GREENBUSHES LITHIUM

  • Rapid crushed spodumene ore for Talison Lithium to process at their Greenbushes operation. This has been to differing product specifications throughout the contract and has allowed the client to capitalise on outputs during a surge in pricing in the lithium market. Rapid provided a three-stage mobile crushing circuit with support equipment including our 25t crane, articulated haul tracks and multiple front-end loaders.

  • Crushing Spodumene Ore for Talison Lithium.

    Rapid is entrusted with the task of crushing spodumene ore for Talison Lithium, a critical component of their operations at the Greenbushes facility.

    Throughout the contract duration, we've adapted to varying product specifications, ensuring flexibility to meet the client's evolving needs.

    Our efforts have enabled the client to capitalize on market surges in lithium pricing, maximizing their outputs and profitability.

  • Provision of Comprehensive Crushing Circuit and Support Equipment.

    Rapid delivers a comprehensive three-stage mobile crushing circuit to efficiently process spodumene ore.

    In addition to the primary crushing equipment, we provide essential support equipment such as our 25-ton crane, articulated haul tracks, and multiple front-end loaders.

Pilgangoora Lithium

  • Rapid Dams was awarded our first contract with Pilbara Minerals at their flagship Pilgangoora mine site in late 2020. Our team mobilised at the beginning of 2021 to complete a downstream raise on their tailings management facility, cell 1 (TMF Cell 1). Rapid worked with the client and their consultant to improve the design and constructability of the cells and at the completion of this contract were asked to stay on to assist with proposed expansion earthworks projects.

    Rapid stayed at the site and was flexible and accommodating to the changing needs of the client. In time Rapid completed five cell raise projects, completed earthworks for two fly camps, built the extended and cement stabilised concentrate handling pad, the bulk earthworks for the P480 then P680 expansions, as well as many road and drainage upgrades, pads and hardstands, warehouse yard extension, bore field pads and access and more. Rapid are proud to have been instrumental in the expansion of the site.

  • Initial Contract and Tailings Management Facility Enhancements.

    Rapid Dams secured its inaugural contract with Pilbara Minerals at the Pilgangoora mine site in late 2020, marking a significant milestone in our partnership.

    Mobilising our team at the start of 2021, we embarked on a downstream raise project for TMF Cell 1, collaborating closely with the client and their consultants to enhance the design and constructability of the cells.

    Our successful completion of this initial contract led to an invitation to assist with proposed expansion earthworks projects, underscoring the client's confidence in our capabilities and commitment to excellence.

  • Flexible Support for Site Expansion Projects.

    Rapid remained on-site to support Pilbara Minerals with various expansion projects, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving project needs.

    Over time, we completed five cell raise projects, highlighting our proficiency in tailings management facility construction and expansion.

    Additionally, our scope of work extended to include earthworks for fly camps, cement-stabilised concentrate handling pads, and bulk earthworks for site expansions, showcasing the breadth of our capabilities and our ability to deliver comprehensive solutions.

  • Instrumental Contribution to Site Expansion and Enhancement.

    Rapid played a pivotal role in the expansion of the Pilgangoora mine site, contributing to various infrastructure projects critical to the site's growth and development.

    Our involvement encompassed a wide range of activities, including road and drainage upgrades, construction of pads and hardstands, warehouse yard extensions, bore field pads, and access enhancements.

Ngungaju LitHium

  • Rapid's client Pilbara Minerals acquired the former Altura Mining Pilgangoora Mine Site soon after our company started its first contract at the site. Rapid were tasked with cleaning up and reconfiguring the site drainage and roads network in and around the ROM, crushing plant, processing mill area, and workshop. As a future cost benefit, it was decided the cut material should be utilised rather than just being carted to waste. With a solar power project looming the quick decision was made to proceed with the bulk earthworks for the solar farm. Pilbara Minerals renamed this site Ngungaju.

  • Site Clean-up and Reconfiguration for Pilbara Minerals.

    Rapid embarked on its initial contract at the former Altura Mining – Pilgangoora Mine Site, coinciding with Pilbara Minerals' acquisition of the site.

    Tasked with cleaning up and reconfiguring the site's drainage and road network, Rapid demonstrated its capability to tackle complex site infrastructure projects.

    Our expertise extended to areas around the ROM, crushing plant, processing mill, and workshop, ensuring operational efficiency and safety across the site.

  • Sustainable Utilisation of Cut Material and Solar Farm Earthworks.

    Recognizing the future cost benefits, Rapid proposed utilizing the cut material from the site cleanup rather than disposing of it as waste.

    In response to an impending solar power project, Rapid swiftly pivoted to undertake bulk earthworks for the solar farm.

    This strategic decision not only minimised waste but also laid the groundwork for sustainable energy infrastructure, aligning with Pilbara Minerals' commitment to environmental stewardship.

  • Transformation to Ngungaju: A Collaborative Endeavour.

    Pilbara Minerals rebranded the site as Ngungaju, marking a new chapter in its development under Rapid's stewardship.

    The successful completion of clean-up, reconfiguration, and earthworks projects underscores the collaborative partnership between Rapid and Pilbara Minerals.

    Ngungaju emerges as a symbol of innovation and sustainability, reflecting the shared vision and proactive approach of both companies towards responsible resource utilisation and renewable energy development.

Cobar Copper Operations

  • Rapid Dams mobilised equipment and personnel to outback New South Wales to perform stage 9a and 9b embankment raise on the not so common central discharge type tailings dam facility. To fill the required skill sets Rapid employed Cobar locals, drive in New South Wales, and Fly in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victorian personnel.

    Cobar threw out some strong challenges with very interesting weather patterns and sometimes trying conditions. The Rapid team rose to the challenge completing the works just before the world somewhat shut down for the Covid pandemic.

    Our team speaks fondly of their time living in Cobar and the finished product handed to our client was a testament to their efforts.

  • Mobilisation and Embankment Raise in Outback New South Wales.

    Rapid Dams undertook a challenging project involving the embankment raise of stage 9a and 9b on a central discharge type tailings dam facility in outback New South Wales.

    Mobilising equipment and personnel to this remote location showcased Rapid's capability to execute complex projects in diverse environments.

    The project required a diverse skillset, prompting Rapid to employ locals from Cobar, as well as personnel from New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria, ensuring a well-rounded team to tackle the task at hand.

  • Overcoming Challenges and Adapting to Unique Conditions.

    Cobar presented unique challenges, including unpredictable weather patterns, and trying conditions, putting the Rapid team's skills and resilience to the test.

    Despite the hurdles, the Rapid team rose to the occasion, demonstrating adaptability and determination to overcome obstacles and deliver results.

    The successful completion of the embankment raises just before the onset of the Covid pandemic highlights Rapid's ability to navigate unforeseen circumstances and deliver projects on time.
